If you’re passionate about juicing, you’ve likely heard the name ‘Joe Cross’ a number of times. He is, after all, a globally recognized author, filmmaker, and plant-powered personality who created a lifestyle revolution around the simple concept of juicing and getting more fruits and vegetables into your life.
And, you might have been one of the 30+ million people who watched his award-winning documentary film “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead (2010),” which he produced and starred in. It inspired all types of people around the world to drink (and eat) something green through his 60-day juice fast, Reboot – a purely plant-based diet fueled entirely by fruits and vegetables, primarily juice.
More than 10,000 transformational stories of all shapes and sizes have been created in Joe’s footsteps, proving the world’s growing love affair with plant-powered nutrition and all the possible benefits that can be reaped from it.
The lessons learned along the way about the direct connection between food choices and health and happiness planted Joe’s best next step forward into bringing the benefits of phytonutrients to millions more.
And that’s Upshoot.
“The Upshoot mission to make plant powered nutrition more accessible aligns perfectly with what I’ve been doing ever since the first film came out. What impressed me from day one was the commitment to science and technology, and how recent advances have made it possible to truly get premium nutrition in a simple, convenient way. Just add water. It’s a game changer.”– Joe Cross, Executive Advisor at Upshoot
We caught up with Joe to talk about the power of plants and what the world needs right now to look and feel their best.
You speak at events all around the world. What’s the #1 question you’re asked?
People approach me all the time asking how they can help others up the ante when it comes to plant-based nutrition. My answer: Join the Upshoot mission to make plant powered nutrition far more accessible through incredible products, flexible nutrition programs and a community of people passionate about helping others create healthier lifestyles.
What initially inspired you to fall in love with plant-based nutrition—and help others do the same?
This mission is very personal to me. I was obese and chronically ill for eight long years and essentially turned my back on Mother Nature. But when I bombarded my system with nothing but plants for five straight months with fruits and veggies, I experienced so many benefits and never looked back. I want to continue educating and inspiring millions worldwide to do the same.
We all know the importance of fruits and veggies, so why don’t most of us eat more of them?
The startling fact is that only 1 out of 10 adults in the U.S. are getting the recommended 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day. And, there’s a lot of reasons for that, but I’ve found that most think it’s either ‘too hard’ or ‘too inconvenient.’ It’s why I’m so excited about Upshoot because they help people daily get beneficial nutrition from plants in easy, affordable, delicious and supportive way.
